Statistics

B&B Manager's Statistics package allows you to access vital information on the performance of your business at the click of a button. To access the statistics, click on the Statistics button on the toolbar or select Accounts > Statistics from the top menu.

Comparing Financial Results For Different Periods

The Statistics screen allows you to view your financial performance for a specified period or, perhaps more useful, compare the performance for two periods side-by-side. For each period, you can select the dates and rooms for which information is required at the top of the screen, then click on the Update Statistics button to display the following figures for the selected room(s).
  • Room Availability. The proportion of time for which the selected room(s) have been available.
  • Room Occupancy. The proportion of time for which the selected room(s) have been occupied by at least one guest
  • Space Occupancy. The proportion of bed spaces that have been occupied during the specified period. This may well be lower than the room occupancy because of bookings where double or family rooms are let as single occupancy.
  • Cancellation Rate. The proportion of bookings for the selected room(s) that have been cancelled.
  • Room Bookings. The number of individual room bookings during the selected period. This will not necessarily be the same as the number of bookings because a booking may contain one or more room bookings.
  • Total Value. The total value of room bookings during the selected period. For future periods, this is based on the room rate(s) applied at the time.
  • Average Value. The average value of a room booking during the selected period. Dividing this value by the average room rate will give you an idea of approximately how long the average guest stays for.
  • RevPAR. The Revenue Per Available Room, which is a widely used measure of performance in the accommodation industry. Increasing your room prices and occupancy rates and minimising single occupancy of double, twin or family rooms will all increase your RevPAR. A RevPAR figure of 50% of average room price is often considered an indicator of a successful business, but you will want to define your own measure of success.

You can view the monetary values with or without VAT by ticking or unticking the Include VAT boxes at the top of the screen.

Monthly Figures

A simpler view of your financial peformance can be obtained by selecting Accounts > Monthly Figures from the top menu. The resulting screen shows the total value of bookings against the maximum achievable value for the current month. Room occupancy for the current month is also shown; this would typically be strongly coupled to the value of bookings percentage. You can change the month for which figures are shown by selecting the required month from the list at the top of the screen.
