Angelfish Room Calendar
One of the most powerful and useful features in B&B Manager is the ability for you to manage a live room availability calendar
on your own website directly from your desktop. This can make your website stand out against those numerous B&B and Guest
House websites that don't show any indication of availability, or only provide an enquiry form which generates an e-mail message to
the owners. Your availability display will be instant and as accurate as your booking information in B&B Manager.
Updating your Room Calendar
Updating your room calendar from B&B Manager is a simple, two-click process. First, click on the
Update Website button
on the toolbar or select
Website > Update Website from the top menu. Then, if you haven't done so already, enter your hotel
name, username and password (as provided by Angelfish Software when you purchase B&B Manager) in the boxes. Then tick the
Remember Details box so you don't have to enter these details again. Finally, click on the
Update button. After a few
seconds, you should receive confirmation that the Angelfish website has been updated. Please note that you must have an active
Internet connection when making the update.
You should get into the habit of updating your Room Calendar each time you make any changes that affect your current and future room
availability. This includes adding a new booking, changing the dates of and existing booking, or adding room or hotel closures.
Adding the Room Calendar to your Website
When you are first given an Angelfish account, your room calendar is hosted on the Angelfish website with a URL (web address) something
like the following:
http://www.angelfishsoftware.co.uk/availability/default.aspx?id=myguesthouse
where "myguesthouse" is your hotel code. This code is created from the hotel name provided by Angelfish with any spaces in the name
removed. Your room calendar will always be accessible at this location, and one option for adding it to your website is to simply provide
a direct link from your website to this address. The drawback of this is that visitors to your website will "leave" the site when clicking on
the availability link.
The best way to fully integrate the room calendar into your website is to add the following HTML code at the point in your web page where
you want the calendar to appear
The calendar will then appear on your own website even though the information displayed is stored on the Angelfish website.
Customising your Room Calendar
In order to make your room calendar appear fully integrated with the rest of your website, the Angelfish package allows you to customise
the calendar through the
Angelfish Members Area. You can change the text font, colour, size and the
colours used by the room calendar to denote available spaces, bookings and closures to match the text styles and colours on your own site.
